Summer Greetings
Hello Ms. Lefevre,
I'm just dropping in to see how you are this summer. I miss all the dogs! As well, as the other animals to. I can't wait for school to start to see them all again. I can honestly say that I miss being in Tri-Tech, even though it is school. Well, I hope your summer is going well and that all the animals are doing good as well.

Fifi's a Mom again!
Tonight Fifi just had another five babies. ;-D They are so cute and pink. I keep picking them up while Fifi's eating, until she gets worried. Then I put them back in her nest. The other kids are so curious about the newcomers and running around everywhere. I'm thinking of keeping some of them for next school year and keeping 2 cages of gerbils. What do you think?

Forrest owner's found
Well, Forrest isn't really named Forrest - his name is Hobo. His owner's had just moved from Oregon into the blue house across from Tri-Tech. Apparently, someone left a gate open and Hobo escaped but didn't know how to find his way home. Owner put up signs here at Tri-Tech and was reunited with Hobo this afternoon. Many thanks all around to all who cared for him.

Sad news : (
Well, good news first - Forrest went to his forever home Saturday. I could tell by his face that he didn't really understand why this strange lady was holding him, but she really likes him and his quirky walk.
But the bad news is that I had to euthanize Tinkerbell Friday afternoon. She didn't look very good that morning, so I took her with me to school. Dr. Privette wasn't working that day and she wouldn't make it until Monday. I decided that it was best to end her suffering. After she was gone, Dr. Batdorf and I could really feel her keelbone, which was very prominent (not a good sign becasue it indicates malnourishment) and her rectum was starting to prolapse again. We could also feel a hard lump inside her - not an egg - so the tumor had finally gotten large enough to feel.
I requested she be cremated and save ashes. So, now I'm searching for a pretty urn or special container for her. I have lots of good memories of her, including Cheeto lips and her snuggling with me. I'm sure going to miss her - she was my favorite. : (

Forrest update
Some of you may not know yet, but a small dog was dropped off at the classroom Tuesday, June 9th. The PM class named him "Forrest" because he was running in the road and Mr. Coates caught him. His dew claw was injured and we took a walking field trip down to Vista Vet Clinic. No microchip & they kept him overnight. X-rays revealed a broken toe (dew claw) so they removed it. He also has a really messed up back, but no broken bones - he's just genetically not so great.
Dr. Privette decided to take care of Forrest as a charity case, so the bill was taken care of by Vista Vet. Please take the time to thank them for their generosity! :-) Since I had already paid for an office visit, I went ahead and got some food with the credit.
I will be posting pictures later, since I am going to the Richland Parks & Rec meeting tonight - the dog park is on the agenda. He plays with all my dogs just fine, but Foster isn't as nice to him as Daisy and Charlie are. And Honey does her usual tolerating. The Culinary Arts assistant teacher (Becky Carr) is going to adopt him. I hope she takes him for the weekend and then she starts summer school on Monday. I'm going to see if she will take him for the evenings and drop him off for the day on her way to school. We also think we can rig up a kennel or bed in her office and use a doggie gate, being as how he can't jump too high.
Pass the word to the rest of the class regarding Forrest. Does anyone know if I need to put everyone's e-mail addresses in here for people to leave comments? Or can anyone leave a comment for all to read?

Any Frogs out there?
So, I see that three of you created an author page, but only one person posted on the blog. Hmm. I must try to see how we can improve this ratio. :-D

Ducks
I came in to my clinic today, after being gone for two days I thought there would be nothing going on. Then all of the sudden this box is dropped in front of one of the sinks by Mary Loe (reseptionist). It was a box full of four ducklings! They are so cute! I wanted to take one, but the knew girl Breanna and Heidi are going to foster them. Krystal put them in a dog carrier and they try to stick their bodies threw the holes. They are the fastest baby animals I've ever seen. We opened the cage to put cardboard on the inside of the cage so they wouldnt get stuck thew a hole and it was like "there goes one, no where are they, the third one is missing". ESCAPE! It was very fun.

Foster
HI FROGS! You may remember me talking about a previous class that had the opportunity to take care of a dog that was drug behind a truck? Well, you've all had the chance to meet Foster. That's the dog! When he was with the previous class, we called him Buster cuz he was all busted up. But when he got adopted, they already another pet named Buster, so they changed his name to Foster. (He also answers to Fos.)
I ran into the adopter 2 weekends ago and she recognized me - I didn't even know who she was. She said they were looking for a home for Foster cuz they have a new baby and 4-yr old that is very active, so there's no time for him anymore. Plus, he's taught himself to climb the 6-foot fence! The neighbors would put Fos back in the yard but they're afraid he will get hit by a car and that he really does need more attention. So they brought him by house to see if he got along with my dogs - and he does. So, Sunday evening, they brought him by my house. It's been interesting. He marked everything in the classroom on Monday, instead of holding it, like the owner said he would. I even caught him trying to mark my dining room chair.
Although he's supposed to be a submissive dog, he's more dominant than Charlie already and I think he will be more dominant than Daisy too. He tried to dominate Honey, but that didn't go over so well for him. I hope you guys get a chance to really get to know him like the tadpoles do.
Hope you have an interesting last 4 days - we look forward to having you back!

what do you think?
I've sent an invite to all the Frogs to join in. I can look at the blog in the morning, so just make sure you post something every night. Do you guys want me to close the blog so only Frogs and myself can view the blog? You are all invited to be authors and post anytime. But I'll only be checking it after AM class or PM class. Let me know how this goes - I'm excited to try this. :-)
Clinical Experience students
HI there Frogs!
What would you think of sending me your journals to my e-mail address instead of typing them up and printing them? Send them to:
suzanne.lefevre@ksd.org
Also, I'd like all four of you to get on here every night and post at least one thing you saw or did today that was interesting. Let's start talking to each other about what you're seeing and doing, okay?

my blog issue
I think that there is a lot of room for educators to get into trouble when we open conversations with our students. There are some students who would take the opportunity to talk about inappropriate subjects. But I guess there are ways to control this, huh? So maybe, it's okay? But will other people recognize this as a viable format of education and dialogue?
test for night class
I can save my blogs to always have a color - at least that's what Julie tells me.
